INNOVATION
BETTERHELP
BRIEF: Come up with an innovative idea that makes it easier for members of the Black community to talk about their mental health, either with each other or a therapist.
Insight: Many Africans, both young and old shy from therapy due to either not knowing how to express themselves or not being able to afford one. Many also struggle with trusting a random stranger with their issues.
IDEA: LightPath APP (30 on Demand )
"LightPath," an easy-to-use app designed specifically for the African community. The app uses three colored buttons (Red, Amber, and Green) like a traffic light to show how urgently users need help. Therapists can then respond accordingly.
Additionally, the app can incorporate features such as therapist profiles, playlist, and secure messaging to facilitate a comprehensive and personalised therapy experience. It aims to break down barriers to accessing therapy by providing a convenient, accessible, and tailored solution for individuals seeking mental health support.

HOW IT WORKS
Red Light
The red button represents emergencies or life-threatening situations. When pressed, the app immediately notifies emergency services while dispatching a therapist to provide immediate support.
Amber Light
The amber button is for important but non-emergency situations. By selecting this button, individuals can schedule a 30-minute therapy session with a qualified therapist within a reasonable timeframe.
Green Light
The green button is for quick chats or immediate support. Pressing this button connects individuals with an available therapist for a shorter conversation or guidance lasting around 10-15 minutes.
